Action for Happiness

Action for Happiness is a movement of people who are helping each other live happier lives. The movement has thousands of community activists across the world encouraging people to tune in to what really matters, connect with others and find practical ways to take action.

Advaya Initiative

Advaya Initiative seeks solutions to the interconnected crises of environmental destruction and mental health. They see the crises we are faced with today as a call to action: an opportunity to evolve, to come together and co-create. They aim to inspire and empower young people and change makers to become activists for a better world, addressing narratives of disempowerment and exploring how to lead authetnically, in harmony with nature.

Art/Earth/Tech

A community for people seeking a wiser society. Art/Earth/Tech host engaging events at their hubs in London and Paris.

Brixton Pound

The largest complementary currency in London,  Brixton Pound (B£) encourages people to think about where their money is going and commit to spending a proportion of it locally. The B£ supports local businesses in sourcing more goods and services locally, reducing their carbon footprint, and also runs a pay-what-you-can community cafe and hub using surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.

Cafe Van Gogh

Cafe Van Gogh is a vegan, social enterprise cafe. Located just around the corner from where Van Gogh used to live, it reinvests its profits  into the local community through accessible food nutrition workshops and on the job training. It is by far the best vegan cafe south of the river.

Canvas Cafe

A blank canvas for positive change, supporting the social entrepreneurs and thought leaders of tomorrow, enabling new stories to be told, incubating innovation and creativity with a warm welcome and open arms. The Canvas Cafe exists to support and enable the launch of new ideas that improve the lives of others, and to provide a clear sense of community through belonging and ownership - just visit them and read the walls to understand how they do that!

Economy for the Common Good

Economy for the Common Good is a social movement advocating for an alternative economic model. It calls for working towards the common good and cooperation instead of profit-orientation and competition. The common good balance sheet shows the extent to which a company abides by values such as human dignity, solidarity and economic sustainability.

Embercombe

Based in a 50-acre valley on the edge of Dartmoor, Embercombe aims to be a place that catalyses the emergence change agents who will take courageous action for a just, peaceful, and sustainable world. Inspired by powerful indigenous teachings, deep nature connection practices and coaching models, their programmes empower people to follow the ‘twin trail’ of inner work, and of outer action to change the world.

Ethical Consumer

Ethical Consumer is a not-for-profit UK magazine and website which publishes information on the social, ethical and environmental behaviour of companies and issues around trade justice and ethical consumerism.

Once it opens, we'd love the hostel to be a showcase of ethical procurement.  We'll have 5,000+ people visiting each year, and want to inspire people that living a more ethical lifestyle is completely do-able.

Feedback

Feedback is an environmental organisation that campaigns to end food waste at every level of the food system. They run the Gleaning Network which salvages tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables that are wasted on farms every year, and directs it to people in need. Feedback also run the campaigns Feeding the 5000 and the Pig Idea.

42 Acres

42 Acres believes that the most effective outer change starts from within. Their goal is to create intentional spaces that remind people of who they truly are, and to realise their potential. They host co-working space and events from their space in Shoreditch alongside retreats from their location in Somerset, all aiming to support human and environmental well-being.

Global Ecovillage Network

The Global Ecovillage Network envisions a world of empowered citizens and communities, designing and implementing pathways to a regenerative future, while building bridges of hope and international solidarity. As a solution-based, multi-stakeholder alliance, GEN provides information, tools, examples, support and representation to the expanding global network dedicated to demonstrating principles and practices of sustainability in their lifestyles and communities.

LEAP & Community by Design

LEAP – Local Energy Adventure Partnership – is a cross-sector partnership seeking to support urban food waste management through the development of small-scale anaerobic digestion. They have pilot systems running in Camden and are part of Community by Design (CbD), a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to delivering projects that combine social, environmental and economic outcomes. 

LowImpact.org

Founded in 2001 by members of the Redfield Community as the ‘Low-impact Living Initiative’.  Lowimpact.org offers introductions to 200+ topics - ways you can do things for yourself and live more sustainably.

LUSH Charity Pot

Eco Soul has received a small amount of grant funding from the LUSH Charity Pot scheme, who funds grassroots projects in the fields of human rights, sustainability and social change. Their donation covered our expenses for several months as we worked to start the project.

Network of Wellbeing

The Network of Wellbeing's vision is of a world where everyone’s wellbeing needs are met within the planet’s natural limits. NOW believes that people's happiness and wellbeing depends in part on the health of the communities in which they live and work. This, in turn, depends on the fairness of society as a whole, and the long-term health of the natural world on which we all depend. In practice, NOW is building up a collaborative network of people and organisations who share this wider vision of wellbeing, plus supporting community action to improve wellbeing locally, and aiming to further the wellbeing agenda nationally across the UK.

Monkton Wyld Court

An Education Centre for Sustainable Living, Monkton Wyld Court provides residential and day courses and training in low impact, low carbon living and land based skills. Their resident community, based in Dorset, leads by example, making conscious choices to live a sustainable lifestyle.

Museum of Happiness

A non-profit social enterprise on a mission to share the art and science of happiness in playful and reflective ways. Their vision is to serve all livings by helping people to find more happiness.

Our Space

Our Space wants to ensure that everyone gets a chance to be a part in shaping the future of our neighbourhoods, and particularly people in our community who have lived experience of social and/or economic exclusion. Based in South London, their Open Projects initiative is works with local community centres to support community engagement.

People & Planet

People & Planet is a network of student groups in the UK. They are the largest student organisation in the country working to alleviate world poverty, support citizen's rights and protect the environment.

Resurgence & Ecologist

Resurgence & Ecologist is a unique bi-monthly magazine offering positive and inspiring perspectives on environmental issues, social justice, engaged activism, spirituality, sustainable development and ethical living. The magazine is published by The Resurgence Trust, educational charity that promotes ecological sustainability, social justice and spiritual values as well as organises yearly Festival of Wellbeing in London.

Service Space

Service Space is an organisation run entirely by volunteers. They leverage technology to encourage everyday people around the world to do small acts of service. The movement contains many initiatives, including Awakin Circles.

UK Youth Climate Coalition

The UK Youth Climate Coalition supports and empowers young people to engage with climate issues . They are working for a fair, sustainable world in which current and future generations enjoy and protect a healthy environment.
